Support us as we walk to end Alzheimer's!
As you know, three members of the Barnard family are affected by Alzheimer's disease (AD). Aside from the personal challenges, we are concerned about the escalating numbers of victims this disease will continue to take in the years to come. Unlike other disease, the existing medications only can slow the progression of the disease in some people. No one goes into remission, no one is cured, and no affected families are immune to the emotional, social, and financial toll of AD.
Dick and I are asking you to support us in the Alzheimer's Walk at Laurel Park in St. Charles on Sept. 19, in which we plan to participate. It is one of the few ways we personally can help raise funds to fight this dreaded affliction. Please give what you can.
In a separate e-mail, I am sending my poem about AD in a daughter in her 50's. I hope it will personalize the devastation of this mind-destroying plague.
